Job Summary:
The Station Supervisor is responsible for the efficient, safe, and on-time ground handling operations at the assigned station(s). This role involves direct supervision of ground handling teams, ensuring adherence to company procedures, airline requirements, and safety regulations. A critical aspect of this role includes the meticulous verification of passenger travel documents, accurate passenger profiling, and ensuring eligibility to travel in strict compliance with various countries’ entry requirements. The Station Supervisor plays a critical role in managing irregularities, fostering a positive work environment, and driving operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide strong leadership and direction to ground handling teams, including baggage handling, ramp services and passenger services.
- Effectively lead, motivate, and supervise a large team of ground handling staff. This includes task assignment, performance monitoring, coaching, and addressing disciplinary issues when necessary.
- Take decisive action and implement effective solutions to manage operational irregularities such as flight delays, cancellations and baggage mishandling, ensuring minimal disruption and effective communication with stakeholders.
- Ensure all ground handling activities are conducted in strict compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and airline standards. Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure the proper use of Sub-Contractor GSE and adherence to procedures.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time performance, baggage handling efficiency, and service quality. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with airline representatives, airport authorities, internal departments (e.g., dispatch, maintenance), and ground handling staff.
- Efficiently allocate manpower to meet operational demands, ensuring optimal utilization and cost-effectiveness.
- Identify training needs within the team and collaborate with the training department to ensure staff are adequately trained and competent in their roles, including travel document verification and passenger profiling.
- Analyze operational challenges, identify root causes, and make sound and timely decisions to resolve issues effectively under pressure.
- Prepare and submit accurate operational reports, incident reports, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
- Ensure that ground handling services are delivered with a focus on customer satisfaction and a positive passenger experience.
- Possess a thorough understanding of various travel documents (passports, visas, etc.) and the ability to accurately verify their authenticity and validity.
- Demonstrate expertise in passenger profiling techniques and a comprehensive understanding of different countries’ entry requirements, including visa regulations, health requirements, and other travel restrictions. Ensure all departing passengers meet the necessary criteria for their intended destination.
Job Specifications:
- Fluent in both spoken and written English is essential for effective communication with international airline staff and handling documentation.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in ground handling operations, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or leadership role. This experience must include demonstrable expertise in travel document verification and passenger eligibility assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively handle and resolve various operational irregularities with minimal disruption.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage large teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Must be able to remain calm, focused, and make sound decisions in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
- Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make timely and effective decisions, particularly concerning passenger eligibility.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and 1 concisely to diverse audiences, including communicating complex entry requirements.
- Comprehensive understanding of standard ground handling procedures, safety regulations, and airline requirements.
- Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and familiar with relevant ground handling and passenger management software or systems.
Job Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications in ground handling operations, safety management, leadership development.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and holidays, as required by operational needs, in Cairo or any Other domestic Station if needed.
- Ability to perform tasks that may involve standing, walking, lifting, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
